Headquartered in San Jose, California, Wi2Wi specializes in providing highly integrated, small form factor, multifunction wireless sub-systems for mobile applications such as media players, smartphones, PDAs, personal navigation devices, mobile internet devices and ultra-mobile PCs.
Wi2Wi was formed in 2005 from a management buy-out of Actiontec Electronics OEM division's products, IP and assets. In 1997, Actiontec was the first to design and manufacture built-in notebook modems for Tier 1 US laptop computer companies including Dell and Gateway. In 2000, Actiontec's OEM division was first to design and manufacture 802.11b modules for the US PC OEMs including HP, IBM, and Gateway. Following the trend, this management team was the first to introduce Bluetooth to PC Manufacturers and was first to design and manufacture Bluetooth for HP and IBM.
Since the management buy-out in 2005, Wi2Wi has focused on creating hardware and software solutions that simplify the integration of multiple wireless technologies in mobile devices. It has several patent-pending technologies for combining multiple wireless standards in a small form factor and making them co-exist with minimal interference. It has also partnered with industry leading silicon and supply chain partners to deliver cost effective, high-quality solutions.
Wi2Wi’s current portfolio includes single and multifunction products with 802.11, Bluetooth and GPS sub-systems. Along with the standard products, Wi2Wi provides complete hardware and software customization needed to integrate these products in the mobile devices. It is also working on the next generation wireless solutions for PAN (Personal Area Networks), LAN (Local Area Networks) and WAN (Wide Area Networks). As a company, Wi2Wi is committed to bringing cutting edge wireless solutions to the mobile market.
