Our team specializes in high-stability quartz crystal resonators and oscillators designed for demanding environments.

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Quartz Crystal Resonator Design Engineer to develop, model, and optimize quartz-based frequency control devices. This role involves hands-on design, simulation, and testing of resonators for performance, stability, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design AT-cut, SC-cut, and other quartz crystal resonators for specified frequency, temperature stability, and aging characteristics
  • Perform equivalent circuit modeling (e.g., Butterworth–Van Dyke model) and simulation of resonator performance
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize crystal blank processing, electrode deposition, and mounting techniques
  • Conduct testing and characterization including frequency response, Q-factor, ESR, and temperature coefficients
  • Analyze vibration, shock, and environmental effects on resonator performance
  • Support failure analysis and continuous improvement efforts
  • Work with oscillator design teams to ensure proper integration of resonators into circuits

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
  • And/or 5 to 7 years of experience in quartz crystal resonator or frequency control device design
  • Strong understanding of piezoelectric materials and resonator physics
  • Experience with RF measurement tools (network analyzers, impedance analyzers)
  • Familiarity with equivalent circuit models and simulation tools
  • Ability to interpret and generate technical drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SC-cut crystal design for high-stability applications
  • Knowledge of crystal growth, cutting, lapping, and plating processes
  • Familiarity with oscillator circuit design and phase noise considerations
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or telecom applications
  • Exposure to environmental and reliability testing standards (MIL-STD, QPL)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Vacation, holiday, and sick hours

Work Environment

  • Combination of lab, office, and manufacturing floor
  • Occasional travel to suppliers or customer sites
